Magnesium and migraine
Many specialists believe that magnesium is definitely one of the main things that can help to prevent migraines. The association between magnesium and migraines has already been studied by experts, many a times. It is a fact that magnesium is ones of those minerals that one cannot survive without. This is because it has many important roles in the body, like regulating the serotonin stages, a chemical of the brain that is known to be concerned in the start of a migraine. When it comes to the brain, the variable levels of magnesium are able to send the blood vessels into a spasm, stretching fragile nerve endings as well as causing some pain and discomfort in the process. Adding to the pain, the people that suffer from migraines may also experience vomiting or nausea, sudden sensitivity to sound and light as well as unusual visual changes. Certain experts found an interest in the topic of magnesium and migraine headaches in the year of 1992 when they started to measure the levels of magnesium found in migraine sufferers. They found it rather ironic that almost half of the testers were found to have very low levels of the mineral magnesium in their blood. Since then, many other researches have conducted studies regarding magnesium and migraine sufferers. The result of this caused many doctors to start prescribing magnesium to their patients that suffered severe headaches and the majority of the patients were relieved. If you are one that is suffering from migraines, before consulting your doctor try it on your own. All you have to do is eat the correct foods; foods that are high in magnesium are avocados, sunflower seeds, green leaf vegetables, seafood, bananas, whole grains and beans. You have nothing to loose by trying this as there are no side effects. If this method doesn’t work after approximately a month, consult your doctor and ask them if they have alternative remedies that they can recommend. In order for the magnesium and migraine method to be effective, one should consume the mineral on a daily basis. Specifically 400mg of magnesium a day, or increase the dosage if it is not working. But remember to give it some time, the migraine will not just disappear after you eat an avocado, you have to use the diet continuously and correctly if you want it to produce positive results. Your migraine may not be 100% cured with this method, but it could control how often they occur and the intensity at what they occur.
